Thyme

Garden Thyme is more potent than Wild Thyme. Treats respiratory ailments such as bronchitis, asthma and laryngitis. Loosens mucus. Rich in vitamin A, potassium, magnesium and iron. Antiseptic, anti-spasmodic, anti-bacterial, anti-fungaland expectorant. Rich in thymol, flavenoids, tannins. Increases gastric activity.
Can be applied to cuts or scrapes. Stimulates appetite, and gargle can neutralize bad breath. Vapors can be inhaled for bronchitis. Bathing in a thyme bath can relieve aching muscles or rheumatism. Be advised that thymol is toxic in high doses and can irritate the skin. Dilute well in bath. Consume the tea to help detoxify the liver, which will help with acne. Can kill bacilli in seconds.
Tea: 1 tsp dried, chopped thyme leaves in 1 cup of boiling water, covered and steeped for 10 minutes.
Vapors: mix a handful of thyme, chamomile, and marjoram in a bowl, covered with boiling water. Use a towel over the bowl to form a hood. Helps with bronchitis.

For coughs
1.5 oz dried thyme leaves
.75 oz narrow leafed plaintain
.3 oz mullein flowers
.3 oz anise seed
For digestive problems
1.5 oz dried thyme leaves
.75 oz peppermint leaves
.75 oz fennel seeds
.75 oz centaury leaves
Relieves flatulence and stimulates appetite.
Menstrual pain
1.5 oz dried thyme leaves
.75 oz lady’s mantle leaves
.75 oz yarrow blossoms
.75 oz nettle leaves
In magic:
Burned as incense, thyme has a sweet scent that is supposed to bring good health and cleansing to the area around. Can be worn for the same purpose. Used in healing spells, and can be placed under your pillow to get rid of nightmares and give you a fitfull night of sleep. A bath of thyme and marjoram can cleanse a person of past sorrows and ills. If worn, can bring courage and allows wearer to see fairies.
